Tom and Jerry Batter
This is a holiday favorite!
6 eggs
1.5 lbs powder sugar
beat egg whites until stiff
Add a pinch of salt
½ tsp cream of tarter
In a separate bowl add 1 pound of powder sugar and egg yokes beat until creamy. Add 9 drops oil of cinnamon and 4 drops of clove oil. If you don’t have oil just use powdered to taste. If you can find the oil it does make a difference.
Fold whites into batter and add more powder sugar to taste.
In another bowl whip 1/2 pint whip cream and add it to the batter.
This makes a pretty big batch of batter. Should last through the holidays.
To make the drink- Add 2 tablespoons batter into a hot cup. Fill with hot water and add a little brandy if you like. Sprinkle the top with nutmeg. It wouldn’t be Christmas without a Tom & Jerry.
this recipe is from another great cook I grew up with. Auntie Sharon Staton
